How It Works
For each cycle, there will be a set number of grants we can provide.
Everyone will be offered the same amount, and you can tell us if you don’t need it all. The amount will be based on how much we’re able to fundraise, and the total funds we have available at the time of each cycle. We’re focused on getting as much out into the community as we can, while making sure this fund is sustainable to support long-term community needs.
Applications will be accepted for a one week window.
Applications are NOT approved based on the submission time, so please take your time and make sure to submit a complete application. Incomplete applications will be removed. After we make sure applicant’s requests are within the scope of the TWF, we’ll use a randomized system to determine grantees for each cycle, while taking into account the urgency of the need.
Applications will be processed as quickly as possible.
We’re a small team, and we’ll go as fast as we can. You can email us at twf@heshezewe.org with any questions or changes. You can expect to hear back from us within 3 weeks of the application closing.
If you’re selected for a grant, we will provide a check by mail or in-person pickup.
This fund is intended to help trans, non-binary and gender expansive community members who wouldn’t otherwise have access or enough access to medical care. We operate from a deep commitment to racial, economic, and gender justice, recognizing that systemic barriers have long denied many communities the care they deserve. The fund is designed to prioritize those who are most impacted by these inequities. As you consider applying for the fund, we ask you to consider the following questions:
- Do you have health insurance coverage for your medical needs?
- Do you already have consistent access to affirming medical providers?
- Are you a U.S. Citizen or a documented immigrant?
- Are you employed in a way that allows you to save money towards medical costs?
- Do you have reliable transportation options to access an affirming medical provider?
- Do you consider yourself healthy and able-bodied (i.e., not living with a chronic or long-standing health concern)?
- Reflecting on your identity and background, are there areas that may give you access to resources or opportunities that aren’t equally available to everyone? (e.g., race, class, education, ability, etc.)
If you answered YES to most of these questions, we ask you to consider making space for other trans, non-binary and gender expansive community members who mostly answered NO. Even if you answered YES to most, you’re still eligible to apply.

The open date for the each round of applications will be announced below.
A head’s up–the application may change a bit from cycle to cycle as we work to improve the process, so it might look slightly different.
